Parks and Recreation

One of the Borough’s best-kept secrets is its neighborhood parks!  Transverse, our largest park, is located at Transverse and Rustic Avenues.  It is a well-kept park with a wide range of recreational opportunities.  Facilities include playground equipment and pavilions, baseball fields, football field, basketball courts, a deck hockey rink, and a tennis court.

.

The Borough’s second park, Ormsby Park, is located between Ormsby and Church Avenues, bounded by Ottillia Street.  With new playground equipment installed in 2012, this neighborhood park is currently in Phase II of multiple phases of work associated with our Ormsby Park Initiative and the Ormsby Park Master Site Plan.

.

The scope of work for this phase includes the installation of new rubber safety surfacing around the playground area, benches, and pavilions, in addition to general site upgrades including earthwork, the installation of an ADA sidewalk to improve accessibility, a plot for a community garden, and “greenscaping.”  Future projects include repairs to the retaining wall providing the main access point to the park, reconstruction of the basketball courts, installation of water fountains, and a new perimeter fence.
